#okay #when i first saw this scene i has my eyes closed because bloodbending always makes me chringe #but watching this back i felt like i was about to cry #just the look of sheer terror on his face kills me #he’s so scared for himself and for korra#you can hear it in the way he’s trying to reassure her (as well as himself) that everything is going to be alright #mako doesn’t seem like the type to run from anything #but he runs like hell because he’s scared shitless #bending is all mako has to him #it doesn’t only make him who he is #it’s also his how he makes his living and how he protects the ones he cares about #without that he’s nothing#everything he worked for is on the verge of being ripped out from under him #so he thinks he can get away #and the look on his face when he realizes that they can’t escape breaks my heart #how anyone can hate this boy after the finale is beyond me #maybe that’s just my character bias showing
